Monsters

Oh dearest friend,
Seems you’re coping oh so very well,
Runnin’ up against that wall.

And oh, clemency,
I’ve done some things you won’t believe.
Keeping one more escape up my sleeve,
Wondering what the hell you think of me.
Just another ordinary day in a dangerous year…
But would you think it queer
If it all just up and puff of smoke and suddenly
Disappeared?

Oh innocence,
Those angry words made such short work of it.
Thinking it’s an ordinary feat
Dining with those cannibal police,
Waiting patiently to take your place
At a dangerous table.
But what would you do,
If they every finally do,
Set their sights on you?

And oh, tragedy.
You won’t believe this anyway,
But there be monsters here.
